Abstract

Cultural heritage 1 is only obtains the necessary resources to be preserved and managed if it is known, recognized, and appreciate by society. For this, it needs dissemination. This research focuses on the dissemination of architectural heritage through video games and on the graphic techniques, survey methods, and construction in a video game – Minecraft– of a historical site: the Royal Site of Aranjuez. The accurate reproduction of heritage in video games facilitates the knowledge and recognition of historical ensembles naturally and playfully and involves the same methods as any survey: documentation, data collection, 3D modeling and dissemination (Piquer Cases et al., 2015). However, each phase needs to be adapted to the specific video game (Porcuna Bermúdez et al., 2016). Here it is presented and adapted to Minecraft on the Royal Site of Aranjuez.
