Abstract

Nowadays, there is a huge amount of interest in the new high-speed railway lines in Spain. However, there is not much public investment in conventional railway lines. This is not a new phenomenon in Spain’s recent history. This work undertakes analysis of an old metric railway line from Madrid to Almorox. The design of the line was completed, and portions of the infrastructure, such as bridges and viaducts, were built. Not a single train has ever completed a run along this line. This work analyses the railway line from both technical and historical points of view.
